Gentlemen:

Why is everyone missing the obvious? There is only one historically viable solution to the problem of prostitution. Laws strict enough to be effective are always in gross violation of guaranteed constitutional rights. Less than effective laws encourage flagrant violation of law—an equally serious problem. Illegal prostitution is the prime source of unchecked venereal disease.

The solution is so simple. Legalize prostitution! Require medical check-ups weekly or bi-weekly; collect taxes on money earned. In our kind of society, the private activities of two adults should be outside the realm of public legislation. In my opinion we should free the overworked police force to pursue the more pressing problems of protecting our lives and our properties.

Cordially yours,
